We have a chain of that type gym around here, their marketing caters to both ends of the stereotype.
Many years ago I belonged to a core gym and once I got beyond my stigma of the core types I found these guys were human too. Suprisingly knowledgeable & helpful.
It was not uncommon for women to venture over from the ladies side and train with us and did so without being/feeling intimidated.
She was saying that 185 is weak, but the people are grunting like they're putting up 300. It's just funny to mock those people.
In reality, out of shape people just try to demonize people that are in shape by bringing them down. Just look at this thread and most threads on this forum.. No matter how guys look, they're usually pretty nice if you give them a chance. It's funny how all the people on here say good looking people need to give fat people a chance, but yet the fat people do nothing but judge.

Imagine the whining if obesity and complacency were revered in this country.
going to the gym is always better, when im going to the gym frequently and have muscles I get way better reception from women.
Apparently it is not when it leads to having a lower quality of life due to psychological issues. There's more to being well off then one's physical state. Regardless you should be careful of throwing out phrases such as "always better". It's easy for people, especially men to fall victim to self help guides and PUA culture on the internet when they proclaim them as the cure to their woes.

I guess the female equivalent would be cosmo or something where, girls have to be into designer this designer that, and cake on this and cake on that.. just like men's magazines that promote whey protein that's unhealthy for them anyway (natural is way far healthier than powder) and giant car/muscle mags. It's all about creating some kind of weakness in people.
I personally find six packs repulsive. My ex was a body builder and trainer, and his six pack grossed me out on top of his gigantic swamp man arms. Thank goodness he didn't try to grow his hair out like Fabio. That'd be a total whack job.
Fit and in shape? Cool. Too much extra this and that? Starts to make people even more self-conscious and less authentic, less attractive. Something I pick up right away, and kinda kills chemistry, for me.
I agree. The next time you see an image of a built guy you should try counting how many times something related to sex or women is found around the image.

I could rephrase that as " I don't get why women who are trying to improve themselves by starving themselves are getting hated on so much. There is a massive difference in a persons life outcomes when they are normal and when they are paper thin."
You only believe that because of constantly viewing swamped with images of people on the far right side of the bell curve and equating that with success. People can improve themselves through more than one way if that's what they're really after and with the rise of tech and high end service industries, brain is much more valued than pure brawn. The people working in tech areas aren't obese or built. They're skinny.

I think the only one doing any type of judging here is you. No one here mentioned anything about their weight and you're saying that those people must be fat because of it.

It's funny how someone can go from talking about a person who frequents the gym... to talking about psychological issues.
Honestly, this is exactly what I was talking about. Out of shape people who need to say things like this so they don't feel so bad about looking how they do.
News flash, most people at the gym are normal people staying in shape. The people who fall victim to self help guides are typically the lazy people who don't leave their house and hope they can someday have the strength to make a positive change in their life.. which they never do .

How many in shape people who go to the gym are generalizing all people that go to the gym as jerks, idiots and meatheads?

Working out does not lead to lower quality of life. I don't see the evidence for that.

Working out is healthier than starving yourself. Plus its absurd how some women get hated for being skinny. The fat police doesn't want others to be skinny because it makes them look bad. For example now there are some who want to claim that Marilyn Monroe was chubby and "big," despite her fact that she was very skinny. Fat people want to people to believe that chubby is normal weight and "real."

Almost no guy gets laid significantly more for adding brain and tech. Thats an inefficient way to improve yourself.

Its lazy people attacking disciplined people because they want to make their meaningless existence feel better. Most people in the gym are normal and friendly. I can't ever recall a person in the gym blowing me off, refusing my request for a spot, or acting like a douche to me. For the most part, gym goers are generally cool people who want to improve themselves.

My first post was about muscle dysmorphia which isn't some term I made up. It's an actual term that's the opposite of anorexia and affects males mostly. If you're not going to bother reading then please refrain from posting. And again you're making unfounded claims that people in this thread are overweight or that people who use self help guides are lazy and don't have any mental strength.
Again, it has nothing to do with ones physical condition.
I'm not going to bother with the rest of your post since I can't tell if you're even being serious.
