And we would be the majority even though you couldn't tell by the most vocal groups on the extremes.

2) Our military is already many orders of magnitude larger than those of the next 30 countries with the largest militaries, the vast majority of whom are allies, not enemies.

3) What do you think of the Citizens United decision, which declared corporations are the same as people? That is the most outrageous bit of so-called "judicial activism" in recent US history, and most Republicans support it.

4) The kind of "border control" some people want is pure fantasy. You'd have to stop, and search, every car, every truck, every container entering the US from Mexico. You'd have to interdict every plane landing in the US and track every single foreign passenger. You'd have to build, and guard, a virtual Maginot Line across 2000 miles open desert. The cost of all that would be crippling. Plus, those measures would basically shut down US-Mexico trade, which would be even more crippling. You can't have it both ways. You cannot expect a free northward flow of eggplants and avocados without also having a free northward flow of unauthorized workers and marijuana.
A great post! Thanks for sharing.

Let's say I am a registered Republican (and I am) I WILL never shove my political views down to anybody's throat. I am not an agenda pusher and I am not into great debates.

However, Let's say my date is an extreme Liberal Democrate, and he has very different political views, what is the likelihood for this relationship to work?

In theory, as long as two people are respectful towards each other, things can work out, but in practice, what is the outcome for this couple?
I think the opposites attract line is bogus. I wouldn't recommend anyone with extremely different political views would ever get along. It's bound to come up sooner or later.

So? Let's replay the dinner conversation I had the other night with my wife.

She and I had the same basic conversation we've been having for 22 years. She expresses her point of view while I listen, then I express my point of view while she listens. Then we say, "Oh, well, we'll have to agree to disagree." Then we turn to planning our four day weekend in New Orleans where we'll eat well, toodle around Bourbon Street, and hopefully make lotsa whoopie where the kids can't hear.

I mean, how hard could this possibly be for mature adults?

I don't think I could be in a serious relationship with an extreme rightwinger. The views would be to much of a turn-off for me.

The keyword here is extreme. Terrible. You say one thing wrong or simply something they don't agree with, they bite your head off.

Not as much as most people think. Both are hired guns for their respective parties, and Carville has worked for Republicans in the past. There's no way of knowing what their personal political beliefs are because publicly proclaiming anything that's out-of-step with their respective employers would be career suicide.
