I know tall is generally good, but it seems like when a guy is tall and skinny/lanky it's a turnoff for girls. Is this accurate?

Not for me, but it depends on the girl.

Not for me either, but I find a lot of women prefer a medium build. I prefer a thinner frame.

Usually tall and lanky is good for me, but there is DJ Qualls ... too lanky.

I have never known lanky/skinny guys to really have much of a problem.

I like em that way! I have a thing for elbows and knees, have since I was a young girl.

It's only a turnoff for women who aren't attracted to that type.

I had a female friend in college who used to claim that guys with that kind of build tend to pack heavy. Maybe that's why she never was responsive to my advances. I'm under six feet with a mesomorphic build.

I'm an ectomorph, 6'2" and about 165 pounds currently...aiming for 175-ish and confident I'll get there eventually...just a matter of maintaining a high-enough caloric intake daily. For the past couple years I've been lifting (heavy and light), doing functional workouts, yoga, light cardio...so I do have some muscle and improving flexibility. I have long legs and my wingspan is around 6'2"-6'3" (which is normal). I like being tall and slender. Many women have reacted positively to the way I look and some have expressed further interest. I get compliments of "handsome", "very cute" and so on. Of course, face and dress also play a factor.

Back when I was in high school and college, I weighed around 145 lbs. Got a good amount of positive attention from women back then too.

There were only a few cases where women were openly turned off by the way I look. One called me ugly to my face back in HS...which didn't faze me b/c I disliked her personality and well...it's high school *shrug*. It's probable that more women I knew were also turned off, but they kept that to themselves. Other women were indifferent. But overall, reception was clearly more positive than negative.

So to answer your question, OP...no it is not bad for a guy. While it's true that many women prefer (but not require) a guy who's taller and a bit bigger than her - ideally a medium, athletic/fit build...in the end it just depends on the woman's individual taste. As long as you're not unhealthily underweight and have some self-confidence, a good personality and don't look sloppy...you should be OK.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. It all depends on the person, can't really generalize to a type. One woman's perfect type is another woman's ICK.
