My ex-wife was thoroughly disinterested in romance while I enjoy it, but I don't think that's why we broke up. It shouldn't be a deal-killer if the relationship is solid in other ways.
I think it would be a challenge,
Imagine always being disappointed on birthdays, anniversaries, valentines day etc.
Now a lot of people think that those things are not important and that's fine, but they should go find someone who feels the same way imo.
Have you read that thing about the 5 love languages?
Probably not a deal breaker, However the romantics gestures would need to be appreciated and returned in ways not viewed as a "classic" romantic gesture (Flowers, rose petals on the bed or candle-lights etc) People can express love with other things like picking up a trinket that is of interest to the other person (DVD/Blu-ray, Book, tchotchkes things like these.)
Point is interest is shown and reciprocated, Give and take is important.
A man with few words does not mean he is not romantic. You need to figure out what do you want in a relationship and what YOU would consider to be romantic.
I've dated a man who would give me red roses everyday for two weeks straight when we first went out, but he did not realize roses are not my flower. I dont consider that romantic at all.
I also dated a man who makes sure I always have a full tank of gas in the car, he is a man with very few words, but his kindness always touches my heart. I consider him to be very romantic.
However, if you are the hopeless romantic, and your partner is not very affectionate, it will be hard to develop deeper bond. Perhaps not a match made in heaven, in my opinion.
