My unit established a position just outside the Nawa District Center. We actually replaced a British Army unit, but they were much smaller than us, and maintained a patrolling presence through the district center and not much more. We brought in a reinforced battalion and went to work. Where I spent most of my time was nothing but dirt and Taliban when we arrived. We had no tents or cots, just mission essential stuff. I slept on the ground for about 3 months until some of those comfort items arrived. It was hot and windy at night, so I would sweat, then the wind would blow dust on me. I would wake up muddy in the morning. Good times.
King for us, and I wish it was bigger. We do have a queen in our camper because it's the largest we can have there and still walk around it. It's a great mattress but we both miss the king... and the dog misses it even more because she's not welcome in it.
Assuming both people are average size, Queen sized bed is my favorite size. I know a a few married couples who have a California king sized bed. Seems so big.
Do I have a question? Oh, right, I guess you can tell me what size bed you have.
King. And we sleep on a twin sized segment on my side of the bed where DH has chased me.

No matter what size you decide she will still slide way over on your side cause she is cold. So whether there is 10 feet of bed or 6 feet you will still only occupy 1-2ft hanging over the edge arms dangling as such.

I think you may have just hit the nail dead on the head.
Cal King. I like the extra long since I like to stretch a lot as I sleep. I also toss and turn and I'm a SUPER light sleeper. This makes a King/Cal King basically the only bed I can have otherwise I'm all up in my partners business. I don't like to be touched and I'm not a cuddler while I'm sleeping. Beforehand is fine, but when I'm trying to sleep don't touch me.
Right now, I have a full/queen and it's fine for just me. I don't think anyone will be sharing it anytime soon so I'm really not worried about it

Exactly! Time to sleep. No touchy!! I hear you there!
We have a trundle bed, side by side but on different levels.
