Robyn - When I would run into people who asked how my ex was while we were separated, I just told them he was fine as far as I knew, but we had been separated since (fill in the blank), so really didn't know any first-hand info on how he was, they'd have to find him and ask him how he was. To those who knew us as a couple, most of the time it came as a shock because others thought we were so good together. Some would ask what happened, some would get all embarrassed and flustered, others would just say OH. To those who asked what happened, since they were pretty much casual acquaintenances, I would just say we had decided to go our separate ways and left it at that and changed the subject.

In your head and heart, TJ is already your "ex", now it's just waiting for the legalities to be worked out. Of course, for legal purposes, tax purposes, he is still your husband, but not in reality - I say go for "wasband" if you need to use a description, since it tickles your fancy

Listed on your cell as jerk or ibtjda of which I have no idea what that means!

When people asked about the status of your marriage, turn it around and ask them if there is any particular reason that they need to know? As for what to call him, since you are still legally married, he is still legally your husband whether you live together or not. I found after years of saying the word husband it took awhile to switch that in my mind to call him something more appropriate like posteriorfungus!

That's why I like X2B, it means he's "my ex-husband to be' or my future ex-husband.
It may be wishful thinking, but assuming that you 2 will eventually be divorced, then he is your X2B until then.
I also like X2B because it's impersonal, like an acronym for an engineering project, and it's only 3 syllables long! Remember R2D2 and CP30 from the Star Wars movies?
No need to think of him in emotionally laden terms, even negative ones. He's only an emotionless and impersonal combination of designated letters & numbers, just like a machine..... X2B.
