Psychologists in Pennsylvania have shown that people who have sex once or twice a week get a boost to their immune systems.
The results showed that participants who had sex less than once a week had a tiny increase in IgA over those who abstained completely. Those who had one or two sexual encounters each week had a 30 per cent rise in levels of the antigen. But people who had very frequent sex-three times a week or more-had lower IgA levels than the abstainers.
I'm 52 and a virgin. The other day I was listening to a specialist saying that sex was needed as food or sleep.
I've always lived quite a normal life without it and never noticed any difference in my health from that. If I didn't eat or sleep, I'm sure there would be consequences.
Doesn't that preconceived notion that sex is a basic need sound ridiculous to you?
Barring the people that wish to procreate this dreaded species -- it's not. Sex is one of those topics that because people derive so called pleasure from it, they can't live without and (they assume no one else can either ). The reality is there's tons of people who go without it; nuns, priests, monks, 'invalids,' etc. not to count the people who aren't in those lifestyles like you and I. A basic is need is something you simply cannot survive without like water. Sex is not akin to water, even if some people have convinced themselves that it is for them.
As a side note: I would be interested to hear why you are a virgin at 52? I am a virgin at 33 but obviously you are older then me....
What I meant is that I haven't seen my health deteriorating over time.
You're as healthy at 52 as you were at 32 and 22?
Also, the proper comparison isn't to yourself, it's to people who are having sex.
I linked to an article that states the people who abstain from sex produce less antibodies than those who have sex 1-2 times per week. (NB4 "I haven't had a cold since I was 7")

Did you sleep through the 1980's and 90's?
I was going to comment on your masturbation schedule but have decide not to touch it.
