I do not understand the thread to be honest. I did not know there was a preconceived notion that sex is a basic need among the general population.

Sex is not a basic need. I was born in 1954 and I never heard that until the last few years when porn became so popular. The sex business is big in marketing and porn has just devoured so many. With sexual addiction they like to say that it is harder to stop than say drug addiction because sex is a basic need. I thought, you can't be serious. So many addicted to porn are also addicted to masturbation so it seems more savory to say that sex is a basic need and this also gives some false permission for cheaters since after all, "Sex is a basic need." A lack of personality responsibility leads to sex being said to be a "basic" need, just another excuse for poor behavior.

And what exactly is that something?

They do not need it until they reach maturity - say around 18 or so.

How do they survive when they are having a dry spell? Why do any of them get married? Everyone knows its a one-way-ticket to no sex...
They don't survive too well with a long dry spell, and negative effects occur as detailed in my previous post.

People get married because society has indoctrinated them to do so.

Sex is most definitely a need, especially for men - and is in fact in the same realm as food, shelter and freedom.

I would say it is an entitlement that must be fulfilled.

No , you have it the wrong way around my friend.

Poor behavior is portrayed by someone who thinks that 'cheating' is actually a real concept.

Man does not cheat when he has multiple partners, quite the contrary in fact. He is actually just expressing his natural inclination, given to him by his DNA.

Alcoholics, drug addicts, and violent criminals have children unfortunately. Which means they have sex.

True, but a lack of sex in the first place could easily push certain individuals onto those paths.

Doesn't that preconceived notion that sex is a basic need sound ridiculous to you?
That fact you're a contented 52 year old virgin puts you in a VERY small minority. For the vast majority of people, sex is a basic need, physically, psychologically and emotionally. Yes, we can survive without it. But not happily.
