I've known two couples who did this.

The first were married in their 20's and had two kids. The husband is a very close friend of mine and he admitted the only thing he had in common with his wife was sex. They started fighting and were divorced. It was pretty acrimonious. Two years later, they remarried. The second marriage lasted less than a year and their second divorce was brutally contentious. They detest each other now and have all sorts of visitation issues with their now-teenaged kids.

The second couple married when very young and had a family. He cheated on her, they divorced. 15 years later they remarried when their kids were grown and on their own. They seem reasonably happy though bored.

For sure.

People are slow learners. If it didn't work the first time, what on God's green earth do they think will change the second time around?
