Before the marriage, take your cash assets and put them into a Cayman Islands account. Transfer title of your properties to a Trust you have set up, with you as the executor. Some states protect spousal assets obtained before marriage, so they cannot be claimed in divorce.

Actually, I know absolutely nothing about divorce laws (but I can fake it!). My above statements may be made up. So rather than listening to a bunch of C-D posters, CONSULT AN ATTORNEY before the marriage on ways you can shelter your assets.

If anyone feels the need to shelter assets from their spouse or future spouse, you shouldn't be married to that person.

My post was tongue-in-cheek.... I'm sure there are plenty of people who believe in pre-nups though, especially of the high net worth type.

Oh thank heavens. You can't always tell with some of the "advice" that gets thrown around here what's real and what's a joke!

So you two have vastly different financial "styles", you're hiding some of yours, and you think it's a good idea to get married without resolving all of this?

OMG... skip the pre-nup... call of the wedding!

Oh, by the way, do you have a brother **I** can manipulate?

LOL... I have a dry sense of humor that is often misunderstood... Plus I rarely use emoticons!
