I think some people who have responded in this thread are more reacting to something they don't see as reality.
Agreed. I'm one of them. The difference is that I acknowledge that my "reality" (aka my set of experiences and observations) is not the same as everyone else's. Some here are not acknowledging that.
I dont know what planet you guys live on, but young women ROUTINELY seek out older men. it is absolutely the rule and not the exception. It is extremely rare for a girl 18-24 to date a guy her age. You may not like it, but thats reality. Guys in their fourties who are looking for fun, have zero problems finding girls in their early 20s who are looking for the same thing.
Oh come on I have a high school aged daughter. Girls of 18 are typcially dating guys closer to their own age. It would be incredibly rare for one to date a guy her father's age. If it was rare how come you don't see prom photos of 18 year old girls with 40 year olds? Fortunately or unfortunately I saw many of these this spring on FB.
I completely disagree that girls 18-24 are seeking much older. And lets face it, the average 40 year old is more likely to be divorced and have kids...why would you want to date that when an 18-24 year old is much hotter, no grey hairs and no divorces or kid drama?
In that case, please tell us how "we" (you and the mouse in your pocket, apparently?) define "older" if not by the traditional definition of "born earlier than".
My interactions with a couple of people in this thread have gone something like this:
Other person: "This is my experience."
Me: "Oh interesting. Mine is different. This is my experience."
Other person: "NO! THAT'S NOT THE WAY IT IS!!! MY EXPERIENCE IS LIKE EVERYONE ELSE'S! YOURS IS WRONG!"
Me: "Uh, okay."

At least that's one thing I think we can all agree on!
I totally disagree with this, especially in the case of a 27 year old. I spend/spent enough time in places where the "well off" men think nothing of making the moves on twenty-something year old women. (NYC, The Hamptons and where I live.) Classy is subjective, but just because a man is 50 hitting on a twenty-something doesn't mean he's low class or trashy. There's a reason why a lot of these men are well-off...they often take risks.
well, I said in my experience, I didn't ask you to agree with me.
I said "he doesn't have to." but if he has to, go ahead chase after whoever or whatever. I don't find old men attractive, period.
I am 28 years old, I have never seen a good looking 50 year old I want to have sex with, I probably never will.
I know this guy who is 26 and thinks I am hot and wants to sleep with me. So no there isn't a shortage of people in their 20's looking to have sex with older people. I wouldn't marry him though.
I think there is a word for it, DENIAL. Some live in that.
