Some old folks get married to have help spending their kid's inheritance.

There is far too little love and sex in the answers in this thread.

Only a fool would marry over 50. The amount of assets that exist to be stolen are far too great.

That's probably one of the most negative things I've ever heard. There are people over 50 who have no assests and the ones that have a great deal of assests are probably well protected. I'd rather give my assests to a beneficiary than the the state.

I hope I'll remarry in my 50s. (Divorced then widowed) And it's for the same reasons I married at 32 -- deep love, can't imagine life without him, and a healthy dose of lust. (By the age of 50, most men know their way around, ifyouknowwhatimean. Add love to the mix and WOW!)

I can't believe I'm bothering with this thread, though. Stupid OP.

I don't understand it, but then again I don't understand getting married at any age.

It's not negative, it's reality. When you marry you're putting your head in the guillotine. When you're over 50 that risk doubles.

I find people with this ^^ mentality don't usually come from a household with parents who were in a loving, long and happy marriage. If that's how you view marriage, please, do not get married and do not have children.

What happened to my parents eventually happens to everyone. Some are brave enough to get out of it, others decided to stay.

Oh you bet I would never get married. I would like to have children but I know I shouldn't and I won't.
