I would not be interested in pursing any kind of relationship with those in fields that....
-Put them in danger: cop, fire fighter, military..etc
-Require long distance for extended periods: military, oil rig, fishing boat..etc
-Anything that attains celebrity status: actors, sports..etc.
I also wouldn't be interested in those in Finance and Sales and politics. In my personal experience folks in these professions have been compulsive liars and are self-absorbed human beings.
I'd also not be interested in those that whine and complain about their job and do nothing to change their situation. That's pure laziness in my opinion and that is a complete turn-off.
Money is the #1 cause of divorce. I'm turned off by any job that pays less than 1/3 of what I get. Obviously there can be many extenuating circumstances but if your lack of pay is due to a lack of ambition or foresight then I'm not interested.

It's pretty easy to find employment as an engineer. If you do internships while you're in school, employers will come looking for you.
my dream of living indefinitely in a rented apartment(with or without a roommate) and spending all my money on cool stuff(video games, merchandise, the box sets of shows I like, electronics, a pool table, possibly other sports tables if I can find the room) finally seems realistic

every politician is a liar, they may not start out that way, but they get that way, replace liar with crook for lawyers
remember, casey anthony and george zimmerman had lawyers who defended the obviously guilty for money.

it's not just money
a worthless job that will accomplish nothing, garner no respect, and make no money(and therefor leave you poor your whole life and indebted due to college) is stupid
get a real job like a doctor or engineer or scientist and you can make a difference without being an idealistic moron with no grasp of the real world.

^^This is exactly the mentality about arts or social science careers that I find repulsive.
