It's amazing to me how different women look like when they get up in the morning compared to when they are dressed at their best. The only way I could look so different is if I decided to not shave and not wash myself for a few days.

You're referring to physically altering ones appearance. Physically, the answer is no. Makeup does wonders for a lot of women. Not only is that available, but push up bras, girdles, high heels, fake boobs, etc, can all drastically alter how a woman appears. Men can look better than when they get up in the morning, but we are limited to nice clothes, facial hair alteration, and getting a little more muscualr in the gym. Women have this market cornered.
With that being said, women are limited with a "ceiling" if you will, by their looks. Excuse the use of the scale but it makes sense for this post. A 6, can really only be a 6 on the physical attractiveness scale. Mod cut: Off topic.
The women I know look pretty much the same when they get up in the morning as they do when the go out the door to work. They don't use makeup.
Kid, why wouldn't you wash yourself for a few days? Really? You don't shower daily? Do you think that might have something to do with your difficulties getting a date?

I dated a woman whose secret was that without her make up and clothes, she looked rather old and masculine. An hour of preparation and she stood out among everyone in the room. The difference was literally night and day.

There are a few nice-looking women that don't wear make up here. But they really don't stand a chance as those who are dressed up and pampered with their hair done.
Also, the reason I know how bad I look without showering for a few days was because recently I went on a bike/camping trip.
Men can make themselves much more attractive to women, and I would like to see more of them do it!
The key is to understand that it's not about looks, money or status.
I think men can by having a great personality, positive attitude and outlook on life!!
