I'm in the middle of something similar right now. There's this woman at work, and out of the corner of my eye, on a regular basis, I catch her glancing at me and quickly looking away when I turn my eyes toward her. She takes on this nervous, giddy laugh every time I chat it up with her. So when I ask her out, she invites me to hang out with her and her boyfriend. Seriously? That's odd, I could've swore I just asked her out, not him.

I can respond to someone else's approach sometimes, if I'm not feeling too shy or awkward, but sending clear initial signals, no.
boorish, churlish, loutish, clownish mean uncouth in manners or appearance. boorish implies rudeness of manner due to insensitiveness to others' feelings and unwillingness to be agreeable <a drunk's boorish behavior>. churlish suggests surliness, unresponsiveness, and ungraciousness <churlish remarks>. loutish implies bodily awkwardness together with stupidity <a loutish oaf>. clownish suggests ill-bred awkwardness, ignorance or stupidity, ungainliness, and often a propensity for absurd antics <an adolescent's clownish conduct>. So if women respond to short guys who can talk good and tall guys who cant then why do women complain?
