"u r free now?"

I thought she was asking was I free to talk on the phone and my response was

"Around 8:30pm. Leaving the office now and I should be settled by then"

So she seemed to be bothered by the text and said........."I was just asking was you free from work and I;m actually going to a concert tonight so I don't know when I will be done with that"

HUH

Was anything wrong with my text? We had such a great back and forth texting convo and it's a shame everything fell apart at 5:30pm and she seemed to stopped texting me after I told her I would be settled at 8:30pm
And the garbage communication known as "texting" sends yet another person into a downward spiral of analysis paralysis, misery, and self-loathing.

This is what people get for using their thumbs instead of their mouths to communicate.

Oh, wait, I said that once before today already.

Dang, you overanalyzers here on C-D need to get some new material.

But wait, how about you view sentences such as "u r free now?" as a sign of illiteracy? Better yet, rather than spend an entire day constantly interrupting each other's work with such stupidity (which I'm sure both of your bosses would just love), you ask if you could give her a call on your lunch hour or in the evening, at which time, if things go well, you ask her to meet you for coffee or a drink this weekend?

Nah. That's what grown-ups would do.

Bad grammar is just 2013 in general.

Bad grammar and bad abbreviations has been a thing since World of Warcraft at least.

Which happened some time in 2003 or 4?

She sounds terribly uneducated. Did you meet her on the corner?

Well, aside from the atrocious grammar - it sounds like she was asking if you were available to talk at that moment - and you weren't. You were going to be free at 8:30 at which time she would not be free. Mystery solved.
