^ I don't find that to be true. Some people have wonderfully animated faces that make them attractive, even if their features are nothing special. Others have gazes or intense eyes or something more "quiet" in their look that can be striking, even if their face does not meet some aesthetic ideal.
The eyes & mouth in particular communicate so much more feeling than the body. Body language is much more universal (within a culture anyway), with certain stances & whatnot meaning the same thing. The face has much more personal nuance.

I've found attractive eyes and mouth areas to be pretty much universal
the almond/diamond shape eye look seems pretty much ideal, like what this guy has. A mysterious, exotic kind of look

You're talking about features - I'm talking about EXPRESSION, as in emotion & feeling & personality. Perhaps you are poor at reading facial expressions? I don't think it's a problem if you're into bodies more than faces, but I'm just explaining why other people give it higher value & see it as more connected to the inner person.

No I prefer face too
But when people say to say an overweight person that 'dont worry, I care more about a face" i can't help but feel a bit frustrated that it's beyond my control to change significantly it's appearance
not to sound like a sap, but for all the bashing women take on here, or in real life, this is an area, where men or society is way too judgemental- because when judging a woman, (at first) most look at the outside "packaging" whether a pretty face and/or a nice body, but for any hopes of long term compatability, it IS whats inside- you can have a gorgeous girl that can be evil, yet she still gets all the breaks in life, and you can have a wonderful, caring girl, but wasnt blessed with the best looks or body, that has to try harder, for the breaks that are given to the lookers.
often, not a level playing field-particularly to folks that judge the most/harshest.
I do believe women, overall, are more perceptive than men on this - many men are way too superficial (insecure) and will strive for arm-candy, only to be "surprised" that she isnt beautiful inside- because she's so attractive on the outside
a lot in the mix here,
but, again,,, a wise man will look at the whole package, will get to know "her" not just what she looks like.
to me, a good hearted woman, with a quick smile, is much more attractive, than a self-centered B****, that is blessed with looks.
An unattractive face is pretty much unfixable, basically a matter of you're stuck with what you got (minus minor corrections like keeping skin healthy and hair)
An unattractive body on the other hand is much more modifiable, and an attractive body is more tied to a person's lifestyle and outlook. Thus, body appearance is much more tied to personality in theory than facial appearance so preferring a nice body over a nice face seems like it would be the less superficial
I have never said I prefer an attractive face. I prefer someone that is in shape. If they aren't, then it's a given that we have incompatible lifestyles.
Your assumption that either is superficial is the problem.
