back when the aol chatrooms were fairly new, and each state had one......a few organized these monthly gatherings- we'd rent a banquet room, and it was interesting, putting faces to screenames,
talk about a friendly atmosphere after a few drinks,,,,,unbelievable
i met quite a few offline from chatrooms years ago-it was very interesting, because the whole-iming and texting to a woman was new...what a way to break the ice..
When I first started communicating with faceless distant people on the net...I always thought that it would be wonderful to have a type of convention....People can be pretty straight forward and honest on line...I can imagine it would be great to meet them all in real life......Also...when you communicate via the key board you learn a lot about yourself and who you are...it is like talking to yourself yet to someone else...like this that I am typing right now...I have no idea who's mind it will enter....what they look like- where they are...It's like calling out in a huge dark room and someone at the other end responds.....it's rather weird.....and a lot of fun...but can be a time killer and waster...Perhaps CD can cough up a few hundred thousand dollars and send us 50 of us to a nice resort in Arizona....I hear Scottsdale is nice.
Why not? It's no different than meeting someone in any other venue. I tend to care more about the characteristics of the person and our chemistry together than I do about where/how we met.
I already have a girlfriend. However, I would love to pet some of the dogs I see pictured and discussed in the pets forum. Now those are some lovely creatures.
If I was single I would not be picky about where I met someone, but I would not date someone who didn't live close to me, so realistically the only forum where I could "meet" someone would be my city forum.
I think I read you have a BF now but if you were still single why not?
I don't see anything wrong with it as long as no one is being harassed.

I use this board as a place to vent, as a place to be a little insecure and generally not have to worry about others judging me. I don't know if I would want to date someone who knew all the stuff I post on here, if that makes sense. It's like having therapy sessions and then going home to tell your SO all about them. Some things are not meant to be said publicly.
