Just going off of my own observations.. it seems like generation-Y females are more independent while generation-Y males are more desperate to get married and be in relationships.

Looking at older generations it was usually the women who were in a rush to settle down, start families and "find a man". It seems like its the opposite for my generation. A lot of the men spend all their time looking for a good woman and don't seem to have any other purpose in life outside of that. Yet, a lot of women from my generation are very ambitious about their careers and life in general. They travel, they study, they learn foreign languages, they make money, etc. The men just drink booze and camp out on dating sites. Lots of them even mooch off women and live off women.

Now before anyone attacks me for generalizing.. I'm admitting this is a generalization and I still see independent Don Juan men and desperate co-dependent women around. Its just not on the same level it was in older generations (it seems).

Thoughts?

I do believe Generation Y Is the entitled generation, that's not fair and what about me. Idk about male vs female roles but they're a pain in the a$$ to work with.

I've always dated older men, somebody 10-12 years older than me. I am an old soul, they were/are young spirits. worked fine for both parties.

I find Gen-Y women more empowering and encouraging. Also because I tend to be a feminist myself and believe in the empowerment movement.

Independent women:

1. Have a job
2. Have a car
3. Can survive alone and importantly not dependent on their family
4. Insist they pick up the tab every other time
5. Buy things for you

They have the capacity to become equal partners in a relationship and a marriage, so that the guy does not end up doing all the things and becomes the so-called "head" of the family.
