I live in a retirement town. My employer said it's cheap to have a business here, though.

I think he means that anything that advances you toward your goal of finding a partner is fair game. Keep your eyes on the prize.

To answer the question, I would "Try" a hobby I didn't think I was interested in. But I would hit the ground running pursue it. The idea being, you never know until you try... but if I really don't like it, I am not going to stick around. I don't think I would be all that attractive to men being miserable, lol.

Do what makes you happy and what you enjoy. Forget about joining clubs you have no interest in to meet chicks. Its a terrible idea for a guy. Makes you a phoney and a cheat. Same women that would join any club you could imagine, are walking the streets of your town, evry single day. They go to malls, restaurants, bars, coffee shops and any other public place you find yourself in. Life is short, focus on what you are passionate about, and everything else will come.

I like some hobbies like canoeing, tubing, swimming, fishing, crabbing, painting pottery, photography, and horseshoes. I will listen to his hobbies that he likes and maybe try some. But if I don't like it I will tell him. I dated a guy that loved to race Co2 cars, cars, and those midget cars.
The real cars weren't too bad. But the Co2 cars was a bit dorkish.lol

I couldn't join something I had absolutely no interest in, however right now I cannot think of many things I wouldn't try if I had time.

you've named just about all of them, but missed a couple (ice hockey/fitness)

im into fishing, guns/reloading, guitars, motorcycles. modern cars (no classic cars or edge weapons) and I do have degrees in electromechanical engineering;although im probably an outdated engineer, since my career has changed many years ago.
