It varies on where you're living. I live in an area that has something like 40% or more older/elderly people living here, so if there were any social events that happened here(and there aren't), there would be a huge amount of old people in attendance and very few, if any, younger people.
I live in a retirement town. My employer said it's cheap to have a business here, though.
To answer the question, I would "Try" a hobby I didn't think I was interested in. But I would hit the ground running pursue it. The idea being, you never know until you try... but if I really don't like it, I am not going to stick around. I don't think I would be all that attractive to men being miserable, lol.
Do what makes you happy and what you enjoy. Forget about joining clubs you have no interest in to meet chicks. Its a terrible idea for a guy. Makes you a phoney and a cheat. Same women that would join any club you could imagine, are walking the streets of your town, evry single day. They go to malls, restaurants, bars, coffee shops and any other public place you find yourself in. Life is short, focus on what you are passionate about, and everything else will come.
Negative ghost rider, I wouldn't pursue a hobby(s) I'm not interested in just get tang. I have a plethora of hobbies already; none I think much women would be interested in anyways.

The real cars weren't too bad. But the Co2 cars was a bit dorkish.lol
