It seems to me that I fit a demographic that's not at all popular in this town. I did join a meet up group for speakers of a certain foreign language, but as usual I am the only young person in this group.

I belong to a guitar player club, lots fun. Some singles there found dates with similar interests. They are all in their 20s still.

I wonder to what extent young peoples' expectations that meetups are for older folks cause them to stay away, and create a self-fulfilling prophecy? I knew a couple of language professors at my university who ran chat-groups in foreign languages, and a wide variety of ages attended regularly. Students loved it, and appreciated being able to learn from older immigrants from the countries in question.
But that was then. This is now. Seems that times have changed, or maybe it depends on the personality of the person organizing the group.

Actually, I was part of a small foreign language club in college, but all the young girls had boyfriends. We had a fun time though.
With that said, I am a loyal member of all 3 of my meet up groups.

It varies on where you're living. I live in an area that has something like 40% or more older/elderly people living here, so if there were any social events that happened here(and there aren't), there would be a huge amount of old people in attendance and very few, if any, younger people.

Reminds me, I do play the piano a bit. I'm not as good as I want to be though.
