Had one girlfriend in my life. She broke up with me like 400 times but we always got back together. Then I moved and broke up with her. It was done at that point.
I was dumped in 3 relationships. For the 4th, after two years, she sought to just be friends. I disconnected fully. She chased me. After removing all my clothes from her home and goods in storage I told her to take any residuals, put them on fire, and place them in the urn of past lovers, because I was that 'done' with her. She didn't call me back after that.
She was very immature and couldn't allow I didn't want her anymore, though initially, she merely sought to 'slow down' our relationship into more of an affiliative, platonic companionship. I told her essentially I was not going to stand by if I've been driving a Maserati and be relegated to using a Ford Pinto. She got the car analogy and stopped bothering me. Brutal, direct, but unquestionably determined not to be yo-yo'ed, which is how I characterized I had been in all prior relationships, intimate and platonic. I guess she had to see it herself and know it was really over.
jeez, you say it as if you need a toothpick to clean out the debris...
No it's just that I went on dates often. The dating world I feel is fun and harsh all rolled into one.
