I've never once had a man ask me if I thought another man was better looking. My smart-alec response would be, "how do I know, I am not his optometrist!"
Don't ask, don't tell is a pretty good policy for things like that. I mean, he sees no reason to ask and I have no reason to tell. Not like he doesn't see the drool on my chin while we're watching True Blood.
A year a go or so a girl asked me if I thought the Kardashians were hot and i said the Kardashians are hot and hairy. There is a lot of shaving going on in that house.
Many posters assumed the question is in regards to a celebrity or some stranger but I wonder if y'all would respond differently if it were about someone both of you know -- for example, your SO's bff?
I put this question in the same bucket as "Do I look fat in this?" and "If I die, would you remarry and, if so, would s/he look like me?"
There are no real good honest answers for them.
My wife knows me way too well for her to ask me if I find someone attractive, because she already knows. On TV, back in the day, we had fun watching "Lost." She had Sawyer and I had Kate! Also, when "Law & Order" reruns used to come on TNT all the time, I knew the ones she would be really interested in -- the Benjamin Bratt years.
In real life, several years ago when we went to a gathering for my college class. she took one look at this 21 year old in my class, looked at me with a bemused expression and said, "You got a crush on her." And, yeah, I kinda did.
Nope but I haven't dated someone who asked loaded questions (or who thought asking one would be successful lol). Whenever I've been asked, it's just been out of curiosity and wanting to have an exchange about taste, not because their confidence was crossing its fingers.

This kind of openness is what I'm used to.
