The main takeaway is that women need to be extremely picky (much more so than men) since reproduction is a large investment, and as a result looks are always the deciding factor in whether a man is attractive or not. It's even there in the article if you can read between the lines. Women desire strong, tall men with square jaws, "hunter" eyes, and facial symmetry. Sure, some women might prefer a man with blond hair or tanned skin, but good looks aren't as simply as relative as some people on here make it out to be. A lot of traits are, in fact, universally desirable.
So how come I see plenty of women with non-macho men? If women are so picky, then only the most desirable men would get women. Also, if personality doesn't matter, then why don't they choose their partner immediately? Why wait, if you are not interested in personality.

But lets look at this from an evolutionary perspective, since you love talking about it. Ages ago, when we lived in hunter, gathering society, women did what you were talking about. We would live in a flock and women would have sex with the hottest men and the group would take care of the kids.

Later when humans went further north, then a new kind of life was needed. People starting using the land, and women had the need for another man to gather food while she took care of the children and the house. Hence, women made an evoutionary deal. They would have sex with one man, and he would help them take care of the children. A woman who only goes after the hottest man, and not the best provider, would likely have no provider and wouldn't be able to raise her children.

Hence, by evolution women are interested in personality, because they are interested in a good provider. Don't confuse todays geeks with a good provider, because in terms of the old society reading skills were not really required. A good provider would have good interpersonal skills, was strong and had a lot of property (rich). So from an evolutionary perspective personality certainly matters.

I have a sneaking suspicion that the is some sort of sexual gratification out of being publicly criticized or humiliated on a public forum.

If that is not so, why do we have a couple of posters who say outrageous things over and over and then throw in something additional outrageous if the response slows down?
