ok, at the behest of a friend on here I am posting, briefly. Spent Thanksgiving and Xmas alone when I first moved to my apt in Boston.

Was it hard?, yes.
Do we wonder why everyone else seems happy, in a great relationship?, yes. (this may not be true though)
Is life uncertain and lonely at times-Yes

Was it worth it? a million times, yes.

I have grown as a person and do not need to be around toxic family, or people, just to feel "busy", or validated. I dont pretend to know it all, just posting what I went through. I feel stronger when I remember those times, and realize, I survived it. Holidays can be tough, but for me , pretending to like people who hurt me was plain wrong. And I changed my life.

this brought tears to my eyes....how true, how true....

You've given much food for thought here....yanno, we are as society deems we should be, but some of the best and most rewarding times I've spent in my lifetime, besides raising my son...and birthing him, are the times I now am blessed to have alone, in complete peace and quiet.

Hugs to ya....and lotsa love

Creme

As always, my motto is: "What's right, is what's right for each of us."

There is no reason in the world for anyone to do anything just because the rest of the world expects them to do it.

We don't have enough people in the world who aren't emotionally super-glued to everyone else for fear of appearing like an individual with individual tastes.

If one wants to spend any day of year by themself, then more power to them! Doesn't matter what day it is, a holiday or non-holiday.

If you ever spend time in a city, you see alot of people doing different things. I actually tried to volunteer at the Salvation Army- they were booked with volunteers!! nice to know some people still think of others/less fortunate.

this is an olympic level post. when i get some rep i will give you some.
happy thanksgiving i am with you brother.
go eat some pie and drink some coffee.
it gets better with practice. there are worse things than being alone.
there are self help groups that develop the beauiful qualities you are discovering
right now, you are not alone. hope you get the support you so richly deserve in the near future.
