Right which is why I only posted an answer to the poster that asked an updated question today.

That is most likely true. If my girlfriend gave me the ultimatum between her and my two cats, cats wouldn't be going anywhere! Not exactly because I value them more then her, but more so that if she's going to tell me to get rid of cats I've had before I met her, what would be next that she wants me to get rid of? What type of person would give someone such an ultimatum in the first place? That's why she'd have to go and not the cats.

I love dogs when they are someone else's. But if I met a woman I loved and she already had a dog, that wouldn't be a problem for me, because the dog would be part of her. But I'd also have to come to an understanding that once the dog and my cats are gone, we won't get anymore.

The bed issue has nothing to do with the animal in the end.
It's a respect issue.

The animal is treated as an equal even though it is fundamentally not and that bothers the OP. It bothers her that it would be given the same respect she (as another human) would be given and possibly even more so in comparison.

Personally, I would never put my animals before another human being for this very reason.
I understand the attachment people gain with their pets and the sympathy they have for them...but, treating your pet like they have more pull and sway than your own spouse?

Hell no.
The dog can be trained it sleep in its own bed.

Right, me, too, but the posts I responded to directly quoted the op.

I could have written this exact post with my girl's mini poodle. Ughhhh. This thing sleeps in bed with her and me when I am over there. She is a PITA. Barks at everything, begs for food whenever we eat. HAS to be under my girls feet all the time, even when she goes to the bathroom. I think the dog can feel it annoys me because she always stands at her feet glaring at me. The worst, during nakey time this dog gets anxiety and pees/poops on the floor to get back at my GF. Just odd...

If we are sitting on the couch watching tv or movie, the dog literally will only sit on MY lap or shoulder. Arrrghhhhhhh!

LOL, I do like the dog but there is no way I could live with it. My GF is also always talking about the dog, sending me pics, videos....it gets old.
