Men just like to keep women around? (romantic, interested, relations)

Maybe women do this too, I don't know... But this past year I was so neglected and ignored by almost every man that had any romantic relations with me. So I moved on and got really busy with doing my own thing and I didn't notice or miss the guys that ignored me. And what do you know? The past few weeks it seems they all started coming back one by one. But I'm no longer interested, I'm no fool. Apparently they weren't interested enough to keep me around when I was actually around. But I figured they're probably just lonely or horny now. I had someone I had a crush on years ago, and he still pops up and says hi to me every now and then but he made it clear he didn't like me that way. We never see each other, only chat for a bit every now and then. I didn't understand it at first, but I guess some people just like to touch base like that. But if I don't like someone that way and if I were to ignore them, I wouldn't go back. I don't like to keep people around like that, I think it's kinda mean. But these guys seem to be the type to do that. Is that common amongst men?

Absolutely. I like to stay in touch with any woman I might want to sleep with at some point or any woman who has connections I can use.

Why is it that every time a person makes a statement about either men or women, someone has to come in and say: "men too!" Or "women too!"

If that's the case why even have a relationships thread? We all have to pretend there are no gender differences whatsoever. Kind of silly.

Yes, people do this all the time. The comedian Bill Bellamy gave a name to this phenomenon in the 90s. It's known as the booty call.
