In relationship forums, I always read things like "he's been with you for 4 years and hasn't popped the question?"

I think people need to realize that men are the party who has everything to lose while women are the only group who has anything to gain. This is assuming that the woman is hypergamous - dates men who are better than her - and, most are.

I can't understand how a guy is expected to sign a lopsided contract with someone who makes less, therefore not offering as much as he does.

Sure, people say "men need to grow up and stop fearing commitment," but seeing as women initiate two-thirds of divorces, maybe they need the lecture in commitment.

Seeing as marriage is dying, kind of like chivalry, why do you feel entitled to it (especially after only a few years)?

Look the reality is, you simply "can't understand" all this stuff because you are so far removed from it - you haven't graduated up to that stage of life.

It's a bit like a 3rd grader complaining that he just "can't understand" this PChem problem...

Estimate the change in enthalpy, ΔH, for the following reaction:

H2 (g) + Cl2 (g) → 2 HCl (g)

LOL, NO!

Because you know enough to realize that to understand complex subjects - like science or love - you have to have a foundation of knowledge to build upon.

A 3rd grader will not understand complex college level Physical Chemistry - they simply lack the knowledge and foundation at that stage of their development - much like our OP's inability to understand love and marriage

i finished chemistry a long time ago. i'd love to see if you went to a better school than GA Tech...

but, uh... it seems to me that you cannot explain why a man who has more should commit to a woman that makes less. so, guys bring the financial stability. what tangible things do females bring?

The general idea is that it's foolish for a woman to give up the prime years of her life in terms of looks and fertility, bear your children, and leave herself in a position where you can easily abandon your family. You guys are the ones who insist we have a shelf life, so don't act surprised when women act accordingly.

so, uh... basically you just don't know why hypergamous women feel entitled to marriage quickly? would you all be as quick to want marriage if the guy made less than you, or is it just another case of grown "independent" women who are still looking for a man to live off of? i never understood why that's still acceptable in the age of equal pay.

You are living in the dark ages if you think that women "make less." Women under 30 are more educated and earn higher salaries than men under 30 these days. Google it.

Stop reading misogynistic forums and step out in to the sunshine, formerly banned poster.
