I knew at the very moment she introduced herself that I would marry her. It was weird. It was if there was an open door there and all I had to do is step through it.
That is exactly how we felt, from the very moment we met. We just had that feeling - destiny? We were also dating other people at the time, but once we met each other we knew the game had changed.
LOL... He has 2 secrets he still will not divulge (despite all my pleading!):
1) How the heck did he beat me at Gin Rummy that first night when I so brilliantly stacked the decks (was he carrying an extra deck of cards with him?)
2) Where the heck did he hide my engagement ring before he proposed after backpacking/camping for 4 days in the Pacific Northwest. I had packed his backpack - where did he put the ring???
We met where I worked as a manager at a huge truck stop and he delivered diesel fuel. No big deal, he would deliver fuel I would sign the paperwork and we moved on with our lives, he was married at the time and I never mix business with pleasure. Honestly I was never attracted to him anyway initially, he was just another guy I dealt with on a professional level.
After I quit I didn't see him for a few months and happened to run into him while out running errands.
We had a coffee and got caught up, became friends and remained friends only for about 5 years.
Within the friendship time frame he ended up getting divorced and was separated/divorced for a couple years before we became "Us". We have been "Us" for 10 years now and married for 7 years.
You just never know where that special someone is going to turn up in you life!
I answered an ad on a college bulletin board for a vacancy in a six-bedroom house full of students. I moved into one of the rooms and my future wife was already living in another one of the rooms. I met her shortly after I moved in.
As she likes to say:
"Living together before marriage? My husband and I lived together before we even met!"
She was a neighbor. I thought she was the most stuck up ***** I ever met.
