I've been reading some threads here and it seems like most guys get their gf through school, work, friends, etc where they have something in common. For example, attend same classes, work at the same place.
But what if you cold approach them at the mall, grocery store, etc are they likely to reject you? I think the situation is different since they are out shopping and minding their own business.
I met my girlfriend at a bar. She was catching up with a friend and I just went up to her and started talking to her. We've been together almost a year together. In my opinion, meeting and dating someone you didnt previously know is the best!

Some will reject, others won't. Cold approaching does work, if you're friendly and have a good vibe. One guy got several dates out of one of our female members, after asking her for a yogurt recommendation in the dairy section of the grocery store. Cold approaches definitely work, but they're hit-and-miss. If you can handle the odds, you can win.
Some women go to the store & run errands hoping to get cold approached. Some have said on talk shows they put on makeup and change clothes before going to the store, so they look their best, "just in case". More guys need to just be friendly.

I've been picked up at the store and on the running trails.
I don't recommend the running trails, though. I wasn't sure of him at first and thought I might have to kick his ass if he tried something. Turned out ok though.

I was hit on at the grocery store. It was his pleasure to assist me even though I didn't need it.
Damnit I didn't even know he was cold approaching me.
