Really, Selfishness is a childish trait. Adults look after those that they love even more than their own interests. That is what it means to be an adult. Your family should be your biggest interest. Your kids the woman that gave birth to your kids, that is the most important interest that a man should have. It is so telling why divorce is such an easy thing to do. Many have not realized that they have to take care of others to be a real man. Others first should take presidence over me first.
To all of you who have posted such earnest responses to the OP, good for you for responding, either to help or chastize this "individual". I'm sure you all felt like you made a difference, and it certainly generated some interesting points.
But I am definitely in the camp that this OP doesn't write in a way that would make this story believable. It sounds to me like a Dear Abby letter (which I believe are mostly made up or at least embellished upon), but with even less nuance.
