Didn't go to any of the dances but one, wasn't interested really. And I had 3 bf during high school...none of them went to school with me though...2 were older, and 1 was my age, but different school.
I had a few "in name only" boyfriends with very little dating (going places together, getting food), and I went on a few dates with boys who weren't boyfriends (ongoing title/status). My junior and senior year, I had a serious boyfriend. My husband was one of the former, not the latter. When people hear we dated in high school, they often say, "Aw, high school sweethearts." We weren't, though.
