That's a good suggestion. Thank you for that. I will try hanging out around the school. It's actually a community college so mostly commuters.
Here's something I don't understand -- how does 'hey are the lines always this long?' get to a point where you ask for their phone number and hang out together on the weekends? I guess that's the part I'm having trouble with.
Personally I have a problem with you kids coming on here and looking for pointers. You have to learn how to do it for you. Use your brain. You, in particular seem to have a good noodle! Don't be a puppet.

What are your interests? Join clubs. Join hiking groups or sign up to work at community theater; there is stage crew if you don't want to be up on stage.
Do some volunteer work. Volunteers tend to be middle aged women, who, incidentally, have daughters that they might introduce you to if you behave yourself well.
It is better than heading to the bar to find something long term.

Get a grip. College is more than just a stepping stone to a career, its about self-discovery, networking and new experiences too. If he uses college to better his social life as well as his educational standpoint, what is the harm here? I'm guessing you never attended college otherwise you would know this.

I guess you missed the part where he states he neither needs nor wants to go to college. He doesn't need it for his career and thinks he'd be wasting his money. Not to mention he's already working a full time job.
Yet poster after poster told him to go ahead and waste his money for a social life.
You're a bad guesser, by the way. And you probably spent too much time in school.
Education is a personal choice. To chide someone who doesn't want to take that route is more telling of the person who criticizes. To spell it, education doesn't guarantee success nor lack of a bachelors degree doom someone to failure. The op sounds squared away, in that he knows what he wants to do and is making decent money at.
