One of the most effective approaches to to simply utter, "When you read the 31st chapter of Proverbs, are you reminded of yourself?"

Some women do fall for this lines especially if he's cute. I'd imagine only time they get mad if they're not attracted to him

Ladies, how do you know if a guy is trying to be original with his pickup line vs. using something that is canned? Is it based on what you've heard before? Is your reaction different based on original or canned or do you just go by his approach and looks/charm? Just wondering.

I just need a guy to be genuine about his approach. If he sounds cheesy and sleezy then I'm definitely turning my back. Give the ladies some respect for goodness sakes!

Bring on the cheese!
Cheezy, dorky, geeky, charming, they all go hand in hand.. as long as it's not cheap sexual inuendo, it's all good!
As far as I'm concerned, .... if I like the way they come across in general (looks, manerisms, character) then all that matters is that they are making an effort to pick me up and I'll go with the flow, appreciatively.

This is a great question! A guy can use a totally canned line and I will go for it if he has a sense of humor, if his eyes are laughing, if he is charming by my standards, if he has something going for him, if he looks me in the eye, if he doesn't take himself to seriously. Even if he is somewhat shy or nervous about approaching me, that has an appeal. Truthfully if he is showing interest in me he already has my attention. Now if he is a total sleaze (again by my standards) I'll let him know quickly I'm not interested.
Pick-up lines that work on me, and I wish more people used them, again I like the direct sincere approach, include "You are very beautiful. Would you like to dance?" "I'm kind of nervous about asking you because I find you very attractive, but would you like to go out sometime?" "You have a beautiful smile." or "You dance beautifully". I like hearing that someone notices me and is giving me a compliment. Doesn't mean it's going to go anywhere, but it is a wonderful way to get my attention.
Now there's a thread I am going to go start, what pick up lines work on you that you wish more people used?
