So, over the past couple of weeks, I have spent some time reviewing online PUA material and have concluded PUA appeals to some men for 2 main reasons:
1) PUA promises to reduce the messy, complicated business of human interaction to an easy-to-follow, step-by-step formula. This makes it appealing to men who lack confidence in their social skills.
2) PUA plays to the deep resentment some men feel towards women as a result of repeated rejection. PUA posits male/female relationships as predator/prey interactions. It not only promises men success with women, but promises they can achieve that success through cruel, callous, manipulative behavior. PUA is as much about getting even as it is about getting laid.
That is my take on it. What do you think?

I think this is the most important point and one that makes it so inflammatory.
THIS ^^^ is why women hate the movement so much.

PUA is stupid. I never experienced it but glad I didn't. I also see most guys attracted to PUA are either:
a. douchebags
b. low lives
c. has low self esteem
d. chauvinists
Just wow I honestly don't know how any self respecting woman can be wooed by this non sense.

I don't know anything/much about PUA. I never heard about it until I signed up on this site. Maybe it isn't targeted toward people my age, I dunno. But I don't understand being resentful if someone rejects an advance. She just isn't into you, so why would you want to go out with someone that didn't dig you? What is there to be resentful about? Most people aren't most peoples' types. You just move on.

I have read some pua sites and it all seems so juvenile yet some men pay thousands of dollars for materials and boot camps. Even if I am never successful with women and at 45 I cannot imagine that changing too much, I will never sink that low.

PUA is not something i subscribe to, but it helps guys get laid, and teaches them some very sound basics about how to relate to women. Stuff that moat women respond to, as results show. I say more power to them. If i had a choice, id much rather be a PUA fanatic, rather than a white knighting mangina. At least id be getting laid, not just hoping to. Ha

Yup. Some pay thousands of dollars. P.T. Barnum was credited, though he never said it, with the phrase "there's a sucker born every minute". Pua seems to have taken it to a whole new level.
