How many people do you come across that speak French? If you come across French speakers, it could work. I'm not saying to go up to women who don't speak the language and impress them with your "skills". I meant people who are speakers of that language. It always impresses them.

Either way, your best bet at starting a conversation with a woman is noticing something about her.. whatever that might be and making a comment on that.

Don't use pickup lines, the only thing that will do is give the girl something to laugh about the next day with her friends.
