The dating market (as a man) is funnily enough a lot like the job market, where being unwanted for a long time all but ensures you'll be unwanted forever.

It only gets downhill from there after college.

If you are male, you must live in a huge city if you want to be dating Mod cut: Off topic.

If you are in a large city, you'll be fine.

That's weird. I live in a small town and almost every person I know dates. I should tell them to stop. I hate it when people blatantly flout the rules.

But I have to ask. Who are the women who don't live in large cities dating? Each other?

Mod cut: Orphaned (quoted material has been deleted).

Life does suck after college though. Of course, life sucked during college too, so it's not such a poignant observation.

The tragedy of missing the train in college is not so much that you can't "find someone." You can. It's just that it'll be a business transaction, pretty much. Being brought together serendipitously, having something meaningful in common, being anything even approaching one of her first partners, etc, you can pretty much forget about. You're the 'safety,' the parachute. Whatever.

gonzolo, here's my very best advice for you and it works:

buy a good camera; take a few photography courses; put yourself out there as a glamour photographer; approach pretty girls on a non-sexual basis--you'd like to snap some shots for a portfolio you're putting together.

They will flock to you because EVERY pretty girl loves to have her picture taken. Eventually you'll hit the right girl with just the right personality. Wish I'd thought of that when I was your age.

I grew up in a small less than 500 town. Everyone still managed to date, have children and live their lives.
In fact it was BETTER living this way. Everyone was able to actually know each other and not get sucked down the rabbit hole of what is "modern" dating and its almost resume like listing qualifications.

Throwing yourself in to a pot of thousands all competing for attention isn't going to yield better results....it's going to add more competition.
