Quote:
Any person you get romantically involved with you’ll either wind up staying with forever or breaking up with them at some point. These are equally terrifying concepts.
This is the one that speaks the most to me.

I don't disagree with all of them, but most of that wasn't the case when I was dating, which was like a whole 4 years ago.

7. The only difference between your actions being romantic and creepy is how attractive the other person finds you. That’s it, that’s all.

I've learned that lesson. There is a person that I'm watching out for due to the creeps she keeps seeming to run into. At some point, I thought I was coming off as a creep myself and started formulating an exit strategy. I know how it feels to be creeped out and I hate when people go through that. Then I found out that she not only appreciates me doing that, but she actually looks for me.

(I'm stating this for laughs by the way.)

I just skimmed the article but a lot of that stuff has always been around, except for the social media parts, that part is newer.....but still sort of based on the "old" stuff.......

8. “Let’s chill” & “Wanna hang out?” are vague phrases that likely mean “let’s hookup”

That got me one time. I guess I wasn't hip to the lingo about 15 years ago and a gal who had taken a liking to me thought I meant more than hanging out when I mentioned wanting to "hook up", which someone in the know would have just thought I went full circle. Oh well, it's not like she aged well as most gymnasts who blow up their knee just won't. She liked being lovey-dovey with me way more than i did towards her.

Otherwise, just too much damn thinking. Glad I don't do social media. My Facebook isn't busy. Nobody can really confuse an occasional picture of the surf in Galveston for much of anything, can they?

Ugh. I find a lot of that to be true, unfortunately.

Seems like it was written from a heavily female perspective, but what isn't these days? (Outside of manosphere type stuff anyway.) It's almost always framed in a way that suggests how hard life is for single girls and that men are somehow the problem that need dealt with.

Meh. I cannot say this stuff doesn't happen or isn't true, but it does seem to be an awfully downer, "the glass is half empty" viewpoint.

They're only telling you it is half full. It's about 49% full. The man is skimming off the top!
