Actually I made a mistake. I meant to say he didn't confirm exactly that. I know, I said the exact opposite of what I meant. OP, you did good. You're not a jerk.
She also told me it was cruel of me to told her I was very interested at the time, and accused me of rubbing it in as if I'm punishing her...which I swear is not the case.
eh, don't take it personally she is hurting right now more from the guy who dumped her than you but you happen to be closer so she is pushing it on you right now.
In my opinion from what you have written you handled things quite well and found out early that she is not emotionally mature nor ready for a real long term relationship.
Wish her well, block all contact from her and move on.
