Preferences, values, self esteem, etc. Little personal things like that.

I've said I don't have standards, I have preferences, but I may be arguing terms and definitions on that one.
I vaguely agree with this.

When somebody mentions standards, they are almost always talking about looks, especially if it's a younger person.

When a guy says another guy has no or low standards, it means that he will sleep with ugly or fat women. It never has anything to do with how cool or smart that woman is.

So, basically having high self esteem and having high standards mean that you are think you are hot enough to be really picky about your partner's looks.

Great.

The comments are golden. That's why I ALWAYS read the comments on articles I read. They are more fun to read than the article itself.

I also am glad all the commenters feel the same way I do. And that's why love internet.
If someone is that picky... They want to be single. Ridiculous.

A rational person would lower/raise their standards until the odds of a "yes" = the odds of a "no", based on experience. The number of approaches do matter!

Sometimes a persons expectations affect who they are with. By this I mean what they need from a partner is more important than any physical characteristics. I think we are allowed to be a little selfish when we chose a partner. Some people just have a short list of things they need.
