If they're happier as loners I doubt they're on a messageboard crying about giving up on dating.

Is it really htat hard for guys to just settle a few points lower on the attractive scale? I had these exact same problems from 18-20 and I just decided I was going to be ok being intimate with large women. At first is was hard but I settled into it. The first one I just could not keep seeing her but I got used to it with future women and it was way better than my hand.

Maybe guys just cant get over that hump (no pun intended).

Not really. Different people need varying degrees of social interaction and are perfectly happy with what they get.

Most people find what they want when they're not looking and enjoying the moment.

Taking time off as a refresher isn't a bad idea, and opportunity to find something new to be intrigued about. Spice of life.

ITs all good as long as there is not much masterbating to internet porn and instead having sex with FWB's you find. Its when you cant find the sex that finding a relationship becomes much more dire. Women don't get that because the sex is always on the table for them.

So these women don't like it in a bed, on the sofa, etc.,? Only on the table huh?

I don't get the impression that the OP is in any way "happy."
