Am I really the only one who finds her reply to be VERY snarky and unnecessarily critical?!!!

"I'm not in high school anymore?"

What a rude heifer.

I also think the relentless chiding of the OP is unnecessary.

Who knows why she didn't like the idea! Paranoid at eating a few calories? Isn't an ice cream eater? Is more traditional and expected dinner? Just a snob? Going for coffee or wine was another option.

Me, I've never been into "nice" dinners for a first meeting/date. If we're going to eat then I would choose somewhere inexpensive like a good barbeque or burger joint where I'd be more comfortable.

Personally, I think movies for a first date is about as STUPID an idea as it can get. But the op's date did state her preference, so now he knows. I don't know the age of these people but a casual dinner somewhere should appease.

This is something I'd suggest doing for a first meeting, with either a walk in a park or sitting down and watching something interesting like a river while chatting.

If she's immediately jumping to dinner and a movie, she might be looking for a free meal, as this is definitely not something you should be doing on a first date or first meeting. That's too much money spent on someone you have no idea if she's worth investing that much time and effort in.

I think her response was snarky, too. That's why I wouldn't waste any time thinking about her. But to assume that all she wanted was free dinner is reading too much into it. No need to think about why she said what she said or what her intentions were. Just move on.

Best wishes with your date on Saturday.

In the future I suggest the walk first then lunch. When you meet and discuss of course you can reverse the order.

As others mentioned I can see turning down ice cream and how it can be taken as a waste of time. Sounds like a 20 minute quick get-away and you have doubts from the start that it won't work out.

So only teens like to sit outside on a nice summer day and eat ice cream? Have you ever heard of something so silly? How does she know that ice cream meeting would not lead to dinner if things were flowing the right way? She clearly is hungry and looking for a free meal
Rude, conventional, boring. Cross her off her list and don't look back, dude. She's not worth the time and energy you're spending on this thread. Move on to the next one.

My advice: her and say NEXT! The way she shot down your idea tells you all you need to know about her..

Dumbest thing I ever heard a woman say that I met online. I think I will purposely go to the ice cream place today to see if I notice all teens lol
