The rule is that couples are usually matched in attractiveness. There aren't many anamolies. But, everone who isn't attractive wants to be the anomoly. We the Unattractive are hoping to luck out. When the number of single, attractive people dwindles to zero, some of us might lower our standards and settle. For now, while we still believe we have a fighting chance, we will hold out. That is the truth.

Where do you come up with these "rules"?
And why....?

So then in another way of seeing it, the unattractive person who chooses an unattractive mate would be the exception to the rule.

Indeed, they do. That's why it's strategic to stay in the game as long as you still have a chance to luck. When your attractiveness starts to rapidly decline, you have to make the choice between being single and being with someone you're not really attracted to.

Didn't I tell you to go after Tin Man? (remember he can't run as fast as scarecrow)...
