ok, take it from someone that has diabetes, and is on dialysis. you can date anytime you like, just work your dates around your schedule as normal. remember that the body doesnt care where the sugar in your body comes from, it only knows how much is there.
also remember that one bad meal will not kill you. if you take any medications that are to be taken with food, then get yourself a little pill box, and take the meds as needed. if your date asks you about them, tell her straight up what is going on.
if your doctor wants you on a low salt diet, get on the net and check out the nutritional values for restaurants in your area, and stay away from red lobster, ans their salt levels are extremely high. just their lobster bisque has 500mg more salt than my entire daily allowance of salt.
if you have to take insulin, try to see if you doctor will get you on a long lasting form instead of a fast acting form. that way you take it once or twice a day instead of at each meal. if your doctor wont do that, then get yourself an insulin pen, and inject yourself in the bathroom. its quick and easy.
just remember a little common sense goes a long way.

OP, if you have a game plan for getting your job situation back on track, and getting back on your feet (apartment, etc.), it couldn't hurt to give your social scene a kick-start. Some women may be turned off by the living-with-the-parents scene, some might be fine with being friends, which is a good start. Put yourself out there and let the chips fall where they may. It sounds like you're good at flirting, that's a good sign. The ability to create some charisma is half the battle, go for it!
