I don't see a problem, are you insecure? Like another poster stated, maybe you're reading to much into other people. Are you self concious about dating an older woman? If not, who cares what anyone else thinks, as long as you both are happy!

Go for it, you stud you
I find myself attracted to older women, but it seems very rare is the older woman that is attracted to younger men.

Maybe the older women that you are flirting with don't think that you are seriously interested in dating them. Also, do you actually want a relationship with one or would it be a quick fling for you? Not all older women like younger men are the cougars that you see on the tv shows who would be content with a quickie romance with a young "stud", most would actually want to be respected as a human being and have an LTR with a YM. So if you approach an OW as a young studmuffin who finds her sexy, she's going to turn you down if she's not interested in a fling.
Triniboy is planning to marry his OW. It's not just a passing fancy for him or for her.

To answer your question, miu, I'm not seeking a quick fling but I guess it depends on how you qualify that. I am not interested in marriage unless an exceptional woman falls in my lap (hey, it could happen). Neither am I interested in a one nighter or a booty-call or anything of that nature... I've always been a "relationship-guy" but I'm also looking to take things at a natural, sensible pace. Also I should clarify that I'm not exactly a "young stud". 30 years old, but a lot has happened to me in life for my age. I have met some older women that seemed interested, or blatantly were interested... only to find out they are married. A disturbing trend that is happening to me all too often.
I'd better stop, I think I'm hijacking the thread. Sorry about that.

Maybe Triniboy will post and explain his courtship process. Speaking for myself only, I never thought I would be in a relationship with a man so much younger than me. I usually find men in their mid-thirties and up attractive dating material. When I met my boyfriend, I had been single for about two years, was content with my life and not looking for any man to be with. I wasn't interested in a relationship or even a fling. However, my boyfriend was a great person, we were best friends first and finally after much thought, we graduated to a relationship.
I feel that with some of the older women, it seems to me that the ones you encountered that you found attractive, happened to be taken. And I think that the same has happened to us women. We find an older man attractive, and nine times out of ten, he is already spoken for. The good ones tend to be already taken.
Otherwise, if you really want to have a quality relationship with an older woman, it does take a little more effort. First, you need to find one that is single. Then you must convince her that it's in her best interests to date you. The combination of a YM and OW is not as common as a YW and OM. So chances are, she hasn't even considered dating a much younger man in a serious way. And the other factor is that she's probably uncomfortable with thinking about while she still looks good now, she could date you, but once her looks start to fade you will leave her for a younger woman, then she is left alone with her wrinkles and not feeling attractive to anyone at that point. With my young man, he intends to be with me until the end. And since Triniboy is engaged to his older woman, he has the same honorable intentions as my boyfriend. So don't date an older woman if you are already planning to exit her life once she gets too old looking for you. That would make you selfish, unkind and a user.
Older men are luckier. No one minds their wrinkles, they are instead called character lines. And their younger partners are more willing to stay with them until the end.

Umm.. Thank goodness for viagra.
However, I've not seen anything good happened when the age difference is more than 15 yrs... it always end up .... a problem.

So would you say that an older woman is always looking for the "long haul" and a commitment from the get-go, rather than a take it one step at a time kind of thing?

If that's the case, and not just a cliche, then I can't wait to get old.

I feel that when dating anyone older (male or female) I would want to make sure that we had the same agenda in mind. If that single woman is loving her independence and isn't concerned about periods of being alone in the future, then go for it. Honestly, while I know that my boyfriend is planning to stay forever with me (which is great with me), and am not afraid of being alone in five or ten years. I have always been comfortable by myself. However, if you meet a single older woman that you find attractive, and get an idea that she'd like to have have her next relationship be with a man (young or old) that will commit to her until the end, then as a gentleman, you should back off and not try to be her boyfriend.
It's all about the attitude of both partners. I am fine on my own, but would not waste my time with a man that knows from the get go that his affections towards me has a set time limit. And I don't want a man that loves me most for my looks and isn't wowed by the person within.

And you'll need to have a little money in the bank to help keep her love flames going. Or at least enough so that when you die, she is taken care of. It's not about being a golddigger, but rather giving an old man the prime of her life and perhaps even children, and that deserves fair financial compensation.
