For the unawares, tinder is an app(free) for your phone that finds local people within a certain distance of you. If you like each others pictures/profile then you both can chat to each other.

Me being recently single, and older so my social circle has shrunk i found it hard to actually connect with other singles of my age, I decided to give it a go just for kicks.

I never did online dating, but decided to try this app. After going through a lot of profiles and talking to a lot of people, I finally met up with a few people for first dates. It took a few tries but I actually found a wonderful girl, who'm im now dating.
The funny thing is that we found out we both work out at the same gym and probably have seen each other a dozen times, yet i dont recall.

Just thought id throw this out there and see if anyone has used this app, or maybe give an idea to others who don't do the whole bar scene and wanted to try a different approach to dating.

And no, I'm not affiliated with tinder at all

I tried it thanks to some encouragement from members here. I'm not really a fan. I prefer profiles with a tiny bit more information if I'm doing online dating.

Tinder is an option but probably the worst one.

You resurrected this thread just to say that?

Just today, I loaded the Tinder app for s---s and giggles (took time to become adventurous). I saw that it shows pics of women in my area, but almost nothing in the profiles other than the usual "Outgoing, adventurous, love to travel..."
I came away thinking, what the hell is so exciting about this? I don't get it.

I concur that Tinder is just awful and apparently totally irrational and pointless to use. And what do I do? Why yes. Keep using it.

I have had it for ≈ three weeks now.

In that time, I have right swiped an estimated TWO THOUSAND times.

No exaggeration. I've left swiped an estimated three to four times that many.

Want to know how many reciprocal likes I've had?

NOT A SINGLE ONE. Out of two-freaking thousand.

This is worse than playing a slot machine. At least with the one armed bandit, given enough time and money, you pull the handle, you WILL 'win' eventually. If nothing else, State and Federal laws dictate it if luck won't. Even card games afford you a fighting chance if you understand the game and employ reasonable strategies.

Tinder (and online dating in general) is more like buying a Lottery ticket. In principle, in theory, it's pretty basic. But in practice, most can and will play forever and not only never win, but ultimately never really even stand a chance at winning.

I superliked a woman off of Tinder who didn't like me back.

My first taste of rejection...innocence lost

Yes, that recently happened to me too with a guy who works in my building, so now it'll be somewhat awkward to run into him at work. lol

I prefer Angry Birds. It keeps my hands busy where I can see them.

I haven't used it, but from what I've heard about, I suspect the people complaining about it aren't using it right.
