Ya, I hear it was recalled because of a lead paint issue.
And by-pass the perfect masher, Hee Hee!
At least, that is what I have been doing. I gotta tell you - since I discovered Ore-Ida frozen mashed potatoes- sure makes large dinners easier and I save so much time . . . and everyone raves over my creamy smooth taters!
I also add a lot of butter and even - cream cheese! YUMMY. But don't ask about the calories . . .
I like the Ore-Ida idea, my general attitude about cooking is if God had wanted me to cook he would not have invented restaurants. One Thanksgiving as a newlywed very intimidated by my mother in law and trying to impress her, I put together a many-course lavish meal, which included Stove Top stuffing, which I just love. Well, she bakes EVERYTHING from scratch and scrutinized the stuffing as she chewed it and asked, "Hmm this is tasty, tell me what spices you used?" and I got the deer in the headlights look and my then-husband / her son stepped smoothly in and said nodding sagely, "It's an old family recipe and that's a secret" which was great, then he discreetly found an excuse to go in the kitchen and bury the box deep in the trash....

better than mashed carpets and urine-stained Ore-Ida potatoes!
we did sort of hijack the thread, sorry about that goldenmom! it is sort of LOOSELY related as it does involve the mother-in-law who shares many traits with goldenmoms family.....
Oh gosh, I'm the one who brought up the deluxe potato mashers. Incidentally, my daughter and I cleaned out the little "pantry" at our Hilton the last few days (we kept buying all of their frozen dinners, yum). But I did buy one with some gourmet mashed potatoes that were so yucky! I'm really not that picky - but they were very grainy and bluck, even with the cheese and other add-ins. What's with that?

Sounds horrific! I guess - more of the convenience type foods gone wrong! But you gotta try these taters! LOL!!! You won't go back to all the peeling, boiling, cutting up, mashing, etc. once you try these! And I am a very picky cook . . . rarely eat out . . . cut corners when I can if it doesn't compromise on quality/taste.

but your husband was correct by "nodding sagely" because SAGE is one of the key spices in stuffing!
