I've never experienced this but my new friend and I cuddle a lot and he is always turning it into smelling me deeply all over, squeezing me hard (in non-sexual places), and then trembling. Now, one might expect this from a young man but he is over 30 and has been in serious relationships that lasted years so it isn't a new thing for him.
Is this normal for some people? I feel like he has some kind of smelling fetish and I cannot figure out the trembling.
I absolutely love my guy's scent, and caressing him often makes me tremble.. In anticipation. My money says.. Your friend is probably experiencing the same thing. Excitement!

Yes, that is rare for that age. I think you are very very lucky.
When someone is very excited or nervous, adrenaline is released in the body which causes tremors. You ever been really nervous or excited and your hands shook?
Some people tremble with cuddling or petting. No issues, but they're very excited.
And as for smelling, I know some guys like to smell their girl's hair. It's just another form of excitement I think. Wanting to get as much of the person as possible-taking them all in.
I LOVE smelling my lady's hair. When she lays on top of me and it spills down all in my face, yummy! Its just so soft and long and thick and the wash she uses is just a fresh, clean smell. Sheesh, nothing wrong with liking the smell of a woman's hair.
As to the trembling...hmmm, she will tremble sometimes, if she's upset and wants to be held, but neither of us tremble from sexual excitement like that. When I'm bolding her and she's trembling, it part of her letting go and feeling safe. Trusting me. After a few minutes, 10 max, she settles down, stops trembling, breathing and heart rate slow etc.
Is he a friendzone friend? If he is, he is probably nervous as he tries to hide his real feelings, while in the midst of body contact. If he is has been designated as a friend only, do you think he wants to have sex with you, even if you don't? If he is a boyfriend, he is probably nervous, or has epilepsy.

Maybe he was getting some serious butterflies??
Trembling after he's sniffing you? Could be a pheromones/hormonal thing..
Smells tend to evoke psychological effects in some people. In turn, his I'm guessing testosterone and dopamine levels were riding high?
Perhaps he felt an adrenaline rush from cuddling. Sounds like some pretty intense amazing feelings he felt.
count me in as a "smeller" too. It's one of reasons why I need a non-smoker.
not into squeezing.
I've trembled (totally involuntary, in my guts) 2 or 3 times. I consider it a very good sign of deep attraction.
