The last woman I really could have seen myself with (we had/have a bit of a mutual admiration society, but never dated because of various circumstances, unfortunately..) has two tattoos, including quite a large one on her ribcage. The funny thing is that she superficially looks like the last person you'd expect to have any tattoos.
Honestly, the larger tattoo in particular made me like her even more because I know the significance of it: it's a quote from a book that's extremely important to her. (Coincidentally, she bought a copy of the book for me as a gift before she moved and got the tattoo a little while later.) Generally, I can go either way on tattoos - there are a couple lines I've thought about having on my forearms myself, so I'm definitely not strongly opposed. But in this case, really understanding why that book/character/quote spoke to her enough that she wanted it on her ribcage was attractive.
As long as she's not into satanic rituals, fake spiritual gothic crap (wiccan), rough riding bikers, or still hangs at sleazy bars in her 30s, a tattoo wouldn't bother me too much. There are nice tattoos, if it's something on a wrist, leg or forearm it's okay. Back of the neck seems to be popular lately, either that or tramp stamps finally went out of style. I knew one woman who rocks a triforce from Zelda on her ankle.
A tattoo isn't a deal breaker in itself, but they have become so common these days that I think more highly of women without them as it tells me they don't blindly follow every silly fad.
Love a tattoo on a few choice parts on a lady I will admit
