It's going to be a process. With home recording be so popular I need to figure out how to stand out.
I don't know if you're familiar with her, but Grimes is a young electronic producer and musician who recorded two really solid albums from her apartment. I'm linking a blog post of hers where she explains her methods and some of the cost-conscious equipment she uses (and other good quality options). I know she writes like a 15-year-old, which is a little unbearable to read, but her suggestions are helpful if you're running a setup at home. Ableton Live is also quite cheaper than Pro Tools if you ever will be considering an upgrade from Audacity.
